University offices to close in observance of National Day of Mourning
All University of Nebraska offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 2, to observe a national day of mourning for former President Gerald Ford. Only Medical Center and designated essential personnel will report on Jan. 2. (University classes are not scheduled to resume until Jan. 8, so students\' schedules will not be affected.)
President George W. Bush has issued an executive order declaring the national day of mourning, which means all federal government offices will be closed. Gov. Dave Heineman subsequently announced the closure of Nebraska state government agencies.
