Regents Medal Recipients
Charles W. Durham (2007)

Charles W. "Chuck" Durham was the first recipient of the Regents' Medal. Durham, who died in April 2008, built Omaha's HDR, Inc. into an international architectural and engineering company. He was one of the strongest supporters and one of the most generous donors for the University of Nebraska.

Over the years, Durham and his late wife, Margre made significant contributions to the university: in medical research, patient care and surgery, education programs for science, information technology, architectural engineering and construction. His contributions include substantial support for the Charles W. Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction at the Peter Kiewit Institute in Omaha, and the Durham Research Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The Durham Science Center and the Henningson Campanile at the University of Nebraska at Omaha were also made possible with gifts from the Durham family.

Considered the most esteemed of all University honors, the Medal was established by the Board in 2006 to recognize someone whose service to the University has provided "exceptional benefits in furtherance of the goals and mission of the institution."
