The University of Nebraska Board of Regents today elected Jim McClurg as chairman for 2012. McClurg, of Lincoln, represents District 5 and was appointed to the Board in 2002. He was elected to the Board in 206 and served as chairman that year. He served as vice chairman in 2011.
Regent Tim Clare of Lincoln, who represents District 1, was elected vice chairman for 2012.
Born in Bassett, McClurg is president of Technical Development Resources Co. and formerly served as President and CEO of Harris Life Sciences in Lincoln. He serves on the Nebraska Technology Development Corp., the NU Foundation Board of Trustees and the UNeMeD Corp. Board of Directors, and is a former member of the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education. McClurg is an at-large member of the Board of Directors of the Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and has been an instructor at UNMC in biochemistry and gynecology and obstetrics.
Clare, born in Omaha, is a partner at Rembolt Ludtke LLP. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and MBA and law degrees at Creighton University. Clare was elected to the Board of Regents in 2008.
