Statement by Regent Randy Ferlic
The following statement has been released by Regent Randy Ferlic, Chairman of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents:

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents has consistently asked that only vertical cuts be considered in dealing with reductions in state appropriations. The board has been –and remains– in full support of University of Nebraska President Dennis Smith, the chancellors of the four University of Nebraska campuses, including University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman, and their leadership in addressing the difficult decisions necessitated by budget cuts. Members of the Board of Regents have purposely waited to make a public expression of their views on this matter, as a courtesy to Chancellor Perlman, until all UNL faculty members had the opportunity to cast their ballots in the vote of the faculty assembly.
