Lincoln, Neb. – Dr. Marijane Hancock, senior lecturer in the Department of Management in the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been named assistant vice president and director of institutional research and planning for the University of Nebraska. She has served as interim director since September, and will become director in May when she completes her teaching duties. She is a 2006 recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award presented by the College of Business Administration.

A graduate of UNL with a master’s degree in animal science and a Ph.D. in community and human resources, Hancock will direct the university’s internal research projects. These include design and implementation of an improved student information system, consolidation and standardization of system and campus human resources data, and integration of various campus and university-wide databases and data collection systems. She will also serve as liaison to the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Post-Secondary Education. University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken said, "Dr. Hancock has an excellent background in institutional research, and her academic and administrative experience at UNL will provide a valuable campus perspective. I\'m delighted that she has agreed to join our staff."

From 1994-2000, Hancock directed the logistics and science support activities for UNL’s Polar Ice Coring Office, during which time she was responsible for increasing National Science Foundation funding for the project from $1.8 million in FY95 to $6.5 million in FY99. She has taught courses in management at UNL since 2000.
