“Enrollment is moving in the right direction, thanks to some good work on each of our campuses,” President James B. Milliken said. “Total enrollment is up, and importantly, we have a 5.1 percent increase in first-time freshmen. Our strategy to rebuild enrollment is to recruit more aggressively, both in-state and out-of-state, to work with students to retain them in school through graduation, and to maintain affordability through moderate and predictable increases in tuition rates and increased financial aid.
“Our incoming freshman class is also academically stronger than ever before,” Milliken added. “The average ACT scores at all three undergraduate campuses hit all-time highs this year, which is one indication that many bright, talented young people are choosing to attend the University of Nebraska.”
University wide, enrollment is up in almost every category: undergraduate, graduate, first-time freshmen and total enrollment; the category of professional students showed a very slight decline (from 2,105 to 2,101).
