University of Nebraska Board of Regents schedules educational workshop
Members of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents and President James B. Milliken will participate in an educational workshop on Friday, Oct. 10, in Omaha.

The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Barbara Kaufman, president of ROI Consulting Group, Inc., of Rancho Mirage, Calif. Kaufman is experienced in working with both corporate and university governing boards. Her clients include the the University of California system, Campbell Soup Company, Amgen, Inc., the Association of Governing Boards, and the California State University system. She is widely published in business and higher education journals.

The workshop does not include university business items and will not be open to the public. The sole purpose of the workshop is for Kaufman to assist the Board in effectively performing its duties to provide governance of the university. Her workshops focus on processes, effectiveness, and board relationships. No briefing, discussion of public business, formation of tentative policy, vote, or taking of other action regarding any matter over which the Board has supervision, control, jurisdiction, or advisory power will be permitted at the workshop.

The board has participated in similar workshops in past years, led by Kaufman and other facilitators.
