Wilcox Receives Public Service Award

Brian Wilcox, UNL
Brian Wilcox, professor of psychology and director of UNL's Center on Children, Families and the Law, has received the 2008 Public Service Award from the Society for Prevention Research. Wilcox is also a senior adviser to the William T. Grant Foundation and has held a number of leadership positions with the American Psychological Association. He has been on the UNL faculty since 1994. Wilcox and his colleagues at the foundation were recognized for their scientific approach to bridging the gap between research and practice, for supporting high-quality research on youth settings and for using research evidence. The award acknowledges individuals or teams involved in extensive and effective advocacy for prevention science and science/research-based programs. Past recipients include Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa and Alan Leshner, former director of the National Institute of Mental Health.
