NCTA Education Center capital request
The University of Nebraska’s Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture located at Curtis, Nebraska, is requesting $9.7 million for a new Education Center to replace inadequate classrooms, provide student commons space and accommodate new program offerings. The Education Center will house Horticulture/Agronomy Systems and Veterinary Technology Systems programs. In accordance with legislative intent to provide state funding, the College has secured $1 million in private donations to offset the total project cost per LB 959. This funding has come from the Nebraska agriculture industry, commodity groups, alumni and friends who support NCTA's new vision of preparing students to return to their rural communities as agriculture and business enterprise owners. This infusion of young human capital is critical to revitalizing rural communities that support production agriculture throughout Nebraska.
The Legislature's commitment to provide funding has led a former citizen of Curtis and the City of Curtis to invest in NCTA's future through the development of a student activity center and a new residential living center. These three new buildings and a remodel of the NCTA gymnasium will greatly improve the living/learning experience at NCTA and catalyze new educational opportunities for future NCTA students.
