High school students
High School Entrepreneurship Boot Camp, UNK campus: Workshops help students assess their technical and business skills, and evaluate whether they might be ready to start their own ventures; activities include testimony from successful rural Nebraska entrepreneurs, field trips to businesses in central Nebraska, and business plan development. Participants learn how to write and develop a sustainable business plan.
Maverick Entrepreneurship Institute: Week-long residential classroom experience for high school students facilitated by Omaha Public Schools; hands-on instruction in key elements necessary for small businesses and start-ups including cash flow projection, market research, environmental and competitor analysis, strategic positioning, project planning, and teaming. New Venture, Adventure Day, UNK: Learning more about entrepreneurship, students work in teams to complete a variety of tasks including developing a mission statement, creating a commercial, obtaining a loan from bankers, identifying a site and determining the physical layout of their business, analyzing an ethical dilemma and presenting their overall business concept to a panel of judges.
