Barbara Jackson
Director of the Department of Education and Child Development
Munroe-Myer Institute and Associate Professor in Department of Pediatrics
UNMC
Barb is well known and respected across the State of Nebraska, having served on a variety of task forces and commissions for such entities as the Nebraska Department of Education, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and the Omaha Public Schools.
She has been in the forefront of education of children with disabilities, both as a teacher and a researcher, and had developed many concepts that have become ingrained in the field, including family-centered care. She also works extremely well with the families she serves during the particularly delicate process of evaluating babies with disabilities.
On the UNMC campus, she took on the responsibility for directing the Quality Task Force and has gained the respect of faculty and staff because of her leadership in that role.
