On October 19, 2000, Dr. Richard Bush, a retired Kearney dentist, was playing racquetball with friends over the noon hour when he collapsed. His racquetball partners sought assistance, and Eve and Scott both responded.
Dr. Bush was not breathing and no pulse could be detected, so they applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation for several minutes while awaiting the arrival of emergency medical personnel. The two faculty members continued CPR while paramedics prepared their equipment. Fortunately, defibrillation and medication revived Dr. Bush and he was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for appropriate medical care.
