Gordon has made many significant contributions to the UNO campus in his 28 years on the staff. He has been an innovator. For example, he was among the first to promote the idea of purchasing cards and the decentralization of the purchasing process. This process has eliminated enormous amounts of paperwork and time devoted to receiving bids on small purchases.

He was an early advocate of university-wide collaboration through the creation of the Purchasing Task Force and an Insurance Task Force, both of which bring the four campuses together to enhance efficiencies and achieve cost savings.

Gordon has also been active on UNO’s Staff Advisory Council and the university-wide employee benefits committee.
