Phyllis works closely with other UNK offices in the recruitment and retention of African American, Asian American, Hispanic American and Native American students. She works with programs such as new student orientation, cultural celebrations, one-on-one and group counseling, scholarship information, and career counseling to reach these students.
Phyllis provided leadership for the recent campus observance of Native American Heritage Month, which included a free concert, films, and an Indian taco feed. During the month she published weekly narratives honoring Native American legends. Now she’s preparing for the campus celebration of the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
