She combines her expert knowledge of the campus and its academic requirements with her positive personality to advise students and to guide them through difficult situations, both academic and personal. She advises more than 500 students each semester who have not yet decided on a major, and also monitors the progress of students on academic probation.

In addition, Amy monitors programs and academic advising arrangements for incoming special needs students and manages the Early Warning Referral program which involves contacting students who are at risk of failing a class. She also is a member of the UNK Women’s Studies Advisory Committee.
