Joe develops, plans, manages, supervises, implements and maintains the operations of the administrative / business and laboratory animal husbandry programs for eight different animal facilities encompassing over 58,000 square feet of animal care space on the UNMC campus. He is responsible for ensuring that UNMC meets or exceeds requirements of the U.S. Public Health Service and other agencies pertaining to animal care and use. Recently, Joe has provided critical expertise for the development of two new animal facilities at UNMC . He also has developed a course for Laboratory Animal Technician Certification, which helps staff members obtain necessary credentials for their work with animals.
