Dwight has responded to the changing demands of new technologies by developing and implementing an innovative way of handling computer problems in the libraries. The resulting Technical Assistant Program has accomplished two goals: it gives staff members working in non-technical areas the chance to gain valuable technical skills, and it has reduced the turnaround time for resolving computer problems to an average of less than 40 hours. This is a significant program because the number of computers in the libraries now numbers 382.
