Lead Toddler Teacher
Child Care Center
The Board of Regents is pleased to present Effie Swinarski (Swin-ar-skee), lead toddler teacher in the Child Care Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a KUDOS award. Some people may say that their jobs are child’s play, but for Effie, it’s the truth! On a daily basis, she sings, dances and blows bubbles to keep her young charges entertained. And then she fills her “spare time” with overseeing as many as 45 teachers that work at the center! An 18-year employee of the university, Effie is truly a role model for her peers. Since 1987, she has brought continuity, consistency and structure to the toddler program. She inspires her colleagues to be fantastic teachers, and promotes professional excellence at all times. She has said that knowing she has touched a child’s life, even if they are only in her care for a short time, is why she enjoys her job so much. One of Effie’s co-workers recently noted, “She has done a tremendous job over the years. Effie has a great caring for the children that attend the Center and has their best interests at heart. She works very well with the staff and the parents of the children that attend the Center.” For her loving and compassionate work with toddlers and for her dedication to her colleagues and to UNO, please join me in recognizing Effie with this KUDOS award. She is joined today by her husband, Ralph. Effie, thank you for your service.
