Information Technology Services
On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS award to Andrea Childress, Director of Information Systems for Information Technology Services at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Andrea’s colleagues describe her as a leader who brings experience, expertise and enthusiasm to every project. She built her expertise as a programmer/analyst supporting UNK’s student information system, and now serves as project manager for the Blackboard system, working with technical staff and faculty members on Blackboard issues. She also leads a pilot project to test the Blackboard Content System and is working on UNK’s e-portfolio project. Andrea served as the lead technical advisor in last fall’s successful deployment of UNK’s new ID card system. This ambitious project included issuing new ID cards to faculty, staff and students; assigning NU IDs to replace social security numbers; converting meal plans and replacing food service hardware; and adding keyless door access. In addition, Andrea chairs weekly Information Technology Services Security Committee meetings, serves on the UNK Emergency Operations Team, and represents UNK on several university-wide committees for technology-related issues. For her leadership, professionalism, and dedication, and for routinely exceeding achievement expectations, I am pleased to honor Andrea Childress. Andrea’s guest today is her supervisor, Deb Schroeder.
