Elaine K. Gokie
Associate Director, Student Records, UNK

On behalf of the Board of Regents I am pleased to present a KUDOS award to Elaine K. Gokie, Associate Director for Student Records at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Elaine is a woman who demonstrates professional expertise, dedication to the entire campus community and exceptional performance.

Kim Schipporeit – Director of Student Records and Registration at UNK – says Elaine personifies the exemplary employee.

Schipporeit says: “Elaine is always at the office early, prepared and ready for the day. She handles not only her regular responsibilities, but all the surprises that invariably occur, with tact, insight, compassion and diligence. She works exceptionally well with all the constituencies inside and outside the office, and is willing to assist with special events and projects on campus. I especially appreciate her upbeat attitude and sense of humor, despite her very demanding position.”

And Elaine’s job is incredibly demanding. Her professional responsibilities are considerable, and involve the coordination and administration of student registration, grading and records. Those basic duties cover an overwhelming list of tasks such as: the drop/add process, attendance and registration issues, the honors program, registration of students for the English Language Institute, helping students in the National Student Exchange program and working with students who are called to active military service. She also processes paperwork and records such as student transcripts, advising student notification and tuition refund appeals, as well as registration reports for the college deans, department chairs and faculty.

Today Elaine has brought her son, Steve Gokie. Please join me in thanking Elaine Gokie for her contributions to the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
