Rebecca’s nominator and direct supervisor, Joanne Johnson, director of patient information at the MMI, writes that “Becky Gilbert personifies the values associated with ‘Excellence in the Workplace.’ She is exceptionally dedicated to MMI and UNMC and demonstrates a personal commitment to the highest quality of service to every project. She not only possesses a tremendous knowledge base, but is also a creative thinker who steps outside the box, looking for ways to improve MMI’s systems.” The staff of the MMI Human Genetics Laboratory, including Director Warren Sanger, Ph.D., and Lab Manager Renee’ Fordyce Boyer, acknowledge that Becky managed the migration of a very sophisticated laboratory system and she continues to develop and manage the means of electronically connecting with UNMC’s clinical partner, The Nebraska Medical Center and hundreds of referral sources. Other staff members have noted Gilbert’s three years of work in “finding, building and implementing a new patient information system for MMI.”
