On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS award to Patricia (Patti) Carstens, program manager for the Clinical Skills Center in the UNMC College of Medicine since 2008. Paul Paulman, M.D., assistant dean for clinical skills and patient quality, College of Medicine at UNMC, states that “Patti facilitates and supports the education of medical professionals in the interdisciplinary stimulation of clinical skills and patient safety, with a passion for what she is doing and a commitment to excellence.”

Nominator Marlese Grant writes, “Patti’s enthusiasm and passion is contagious as she explains the benefits and possible uses of the inter‐disciplinary simulation lab. She combines her background in education with knowledge of the content to help students and instructors collaborate on reaching educational objectives through simulated experiences. Students, faculty, staff, as well as individuals and institutions outside of UNMC, all benefit from Patti’s knowledge and expertise. Her outreach efforts have created interest, and they have resulted in outside entities using the facilities of the simulation lab and sharing resources.”
