NU BOARD OF REGENTS TO MEET MAY 30

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Friday, May 30, at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St. in Lincoln. Committee meetings begin at 9 a.m. and the Board meeting begins at 10:45 a.m. All meetings are open to the public. Meetings also will be audio-streamed live at www.nebraska.edu.

9 a.m.: Academic Affairs Committee

Topic: Strategic Framework Report – Research Update

Presenters: Susan Fritz, NU interim executive vice president and provost; Jennifer Larsen, UNMC vice chancellor for research; Ken Bayles, UNMC associate vice chancellor for basic science research; Prem Paul, UNL vice chancellor for research and economic development; and Susan Sheridan, director of the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools at UNL

10 a.m.: Business Affairs Committee

Topic: Budget

Presenters: David Lechner, NU senior vice president and CFO; and Chris Kabourek, NU assistant vice president for business and finance and director of budget

10:45 a.m.: Board of Regents meeting

The Board will be asked to approve:

  • Creation of a bachelor’s degree in integrated science in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Addendum IX-A-6)
  • Creation of a professional certificate in health policy in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. (Addendum IX-A-7)
  • Creation of a bachelor’s degree in music in the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. (Addendum IX-A-8)
  • The 2014-15 operating budget and tuition rates for the University of Nebraska and Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. (Addendums IX-B-2 and IX-B-3)
  • The operating agreement between UNL and the City of Lincoln for the John A. Breslow Ice Hockey Center at UNL. (Addendum IX-B-4)
  • The program statement and budget for the construction of an addition to and renovations in the Student Life Center at UNMC. (Addendum IX-B-8)
  • Purchases of property in Omaha to be used for purposes consistent with UNMC’s long-range capital plans. (Addendums IX-B-10, IX-B-11 and IX-B-12)
  • The program statement and budget for the Willis A. and Janet S. Strauss Performing Arts Center addition and renovation at UNO. (Addendum IX-B-15)
  • The program statement and budget for the Milo Bail Student Center renovation at UNO. (Addendum IX-B-16)
  • The naming of the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center at UNO. (Addendum IX-B-19)
