As the office leader in the chancellor’s office, Chris coordinates staff, oversees a myriad of meeting schedules, assembles data, and corresponds with many high-level leaders throughout the campus, university, state and nation. A 25-year employee of UNMC, Chris also provides direct support to Chancellor Maurer. By all accounts – including her 11 letters of nomination for this award – she does her job with excellence, a can-do attitude and grace under pressure. One nominator wrote: "(Chris) demonstrates her commitment to excellence by a strong work ethic and her willingness to put in many, many long hours, including weekends. Her impeccable attention to detail ensures that the office runs smoothly on a daily basis."
Another nominator noted that Chris is at the "nerve center" of the UNMC campus. "Chris is irreplaceable, and our institution would be far less effective without Chris managing the chancellor’s office and the chancellor’s schedule. No one deserves this honor more than Chris."
It is for these and other reasons that the Board of Regents is pleased today to present this KUDOS award to Ms. Chris Larson. She is joined today by her husband, John, who will celebrate his 41st anniversary of employment at UNMC in July. She is also accompanied by two of her nominators, vice chancellors Bob Bartee and Don Leuenberger, and her supervisor, Chancellor Harold M. Maurer.
